BRAKE BOOSTER

Removal and installation

CAUTION:

  • Be careful not to deform or bend brake tube while removing and installing brake booster.
  • Replace clevis pin if it is damaged.
  • Be careful not to damage brake booster stud bolt threads. If brake booster is titled during installation, the dash panel may damage the threads.

REMOVAL

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust\Engine\Air Cleaner Housing\Service and Repair (QR25DE), See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust\Engine\Air Cleaner Fresh Air Duct/Hose\Service and Repair (VQ35DE).
  2. Disconnect the clutch hose from the reservoir tank (if equipped).
  3. Remove the brake master cylinder. Refer to See: Hydraulic System\Brake Master Cylinder\Service and Repair\Removal and Replacement\Removal and Installation.
  4. Release the fuel pressure and disconnect the fuel lines at the main connection. Refer to (QR25DE for California), (QR25DE except California), See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust\Engine\Fuel Pressure\Testing and Inspection(VQ35DE).
  5. Remove the cowl top and cowl top extension. Refer to See: Body and Frame\Cowl\Cowl Moulding / Trim\Service and Repair\Coupe.
  6. Remove the vacuum hose from the brake booster. Refer to See: Exploded View.
  7. Remove the accelerator pedal. Refer to See: Powertrain Management\Fuel Delivery and Air Induction\Accelerator Pedal\Service and Repair.
  8. Remove the brake pedal. Refer to See: Brake Pedal Assy\Service and Repair.

  

  1. Remove the snap pin and clevis pin from inside the vehicle.
  2. Remove brake booster from the dash panel on the engine room side.

INSTALLATION

  1. Loosen lock nut to adjust input rod length so that length (B) is at the specified value.

  

Length (B) : Refer to See: Specifications.

  1. After adjusting (B), temporarily tighten lock nut to install booster assembly. Make sure that a gasket is installed between the brake booster and dash panel.

CAUTION:
Always install a gasket between the brake booster and dash panel.

  1. Install the brake pedal. Refer to See: Brake Pedal Assy\Service and Repair.
  2. Install the accelerator pedal. Refer to See: Powertrain Management\Fuel Delivery and Air Induction\Accelerator Pedal\Service and Repair.
  3. Install the vacuum hose on the brake booster. Refer to See: Exploded View.
  4. Install the cowl top and cowl top extension. Refer to See: Body and Frame\Cowl\Cowl Moulding / Trim\Service and Repair\Coupe.
  5. Connect the fuel lines.
  6. Install the master cylinder. Refer to See: Hydraulic System\Brake Master Cylinder\Service and Repair\Removal and Replacement\Removal and Installation.
  7. Connect the clutch hose to the reservoir tank (if equipped).
  8. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust\Engine\Air Cleaner Housing\Service and Repair (QR25DE), See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust\Engine\Air Cleaner Fresh Air Duct/Hose\Service and Repair (VQ35DE).
  9. Adjust the brake pedal height. Refer to .
  10. Tighten lock nut of input rod to the specified torque. Refer to See: Exploded View.
  11. Refill new brake fluid and bleed air. Refer to See: Brake Bleeding\Service and Repair.
