'91 Plymouth Grand Voyager, Body Control Module Wipers?
Q: In my 91 Plymouth
Grand Voyager, the wipers come on by themselves even in the off position
when the ignition is on. It does not happen when the ignition is off or
in the accessory position. I replaced the wiper motor and it stopped for
a while, but it started again. I replaced the wiper module with no effect.
I need a solution. Do I need a Body Control module or it is something
else?
A:
First, you should know that the Body Control Module doesnt run the
whole show. What you need to find out is whats powering up the wipers
with the wiper switch in the off position. There are four wires to the
wiper motor. There is a power supply for park, high and low speed wire
and one from the Body Control Module. My experience has been that if the
Body Control Module is playing games that the wipers will cycle randomly.
If the park switch is not working right, it just turns the wipers on.
With a tester or by disconnecting each wire you can determine what component
is the comedian that is driving you nuts. Just replacing the parts without
proving the fault can be an expensive game.
