'93 Jeep Grand Cherokee, On board Water Maker
Q:
I have
a '93 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The condensation (water)from the AC leaks into
the car interior at the point the pan drains through the front wall below
the dash. I can't access the opening outside, as it's behind the wheel-well
wall. The passenger floor floods whenever I run the AC for any length
of time. How can I repair this? Is there a missing part, or is something
broken?

A:
I doubt
anything is broken. The problem you have is likely a plugged evaporator
drain. A/C systems cool and remove moisture from the air and on hot humid
days there is a lot of moisture to remove. If the drain is restricted
or plugged, in no time at all, the passenger side floor of about any vehicle
will become a swimming pool. The drain is located on the engine compartment
side of the firewall. We use shop air with a long tube to blow back through
the drain. One word of caution. Don't be under the drain once you get
it cleared. Some systems can easily hold 1/2 gallon of swamp water and
it really comes out fast.
