Dodge Stratus, Intermittent A/C
Q:
Ive
been having a problem with the A/C in my 95 Dodge Stratus.
Sometimes the unit works great for a while and other times it does
not work at all, especially in hot weather. I have heard of other
people having the same problem and was wondering if there is any
info out on this problem. The vehicle has been serviced multiple
times for the complaint but it always seems to re-occur after a
short time.

A:
There
are a couple of possible causes for the problem youre reporting.
You should know that there has been a problem with a pressure switch
for the A/C system that can cause intermittent operating problems.
ALLDATA Information Systems shows Chrysler Technical Service Bulletin
(TSB) # 24-14-94 to address an intermittent or total loss of air
conditioning. There is a pressure sensor in the A/C system that
reports an incorrect value to the computer. The computers
response is to turn off the A/C compressor. You should also know
that if the sensor has to be replaced it is not necessary to drain
or recharge the A/C system. Vehicles affected by this TSB are 93-95
Concorde/Intrepid/Vision/LHS/New Yorker and 95 Cirrus/Stratus.
