Ford Contour, Interior Dusting
Q: My daughter has a '96
Ford Contour with a six cylinder engine, automatic transmission with A/C.
Towards the end of the summer, with the A/C on, a white dust was blowing
out of the duct work, causing a film to adhere to the windows that looked
like a fog, which had to be wiped clean with a dusting rag to see properly
at night. Now that the A/C is no longer needed this problem has cleared
up. What is the best way to solve this problem?...Will
A: Have
you had the pollen filter serviced? What is a pollen filter? Your daughter's
car is equipped with a special filter that filters incoming air, removing
dust and pollen before it enters the heating and A/C system. Pollen filters,
just like air filters, need to be serviced/ replaced, on regular intervals.
It's likely, the pollen filter has been used beyond its useful life and
is in need of replacement. Pollen filters are found on many of today's
vehicles and are, without question, effective at improving air quality
inside a vehicle. The maintenance scheduled for the pollen filter can
be found in the Owner's Manual.
