Ford Crown Vic, Fuel Pump Reset
Q:
Hello I am having problems with my ‘99 Ford Crown
Vic. It was involved in a front end collision but it was
mainly just body work that had to be fixed. The air bags
did not go off at all and the only thing damaged to the
mechanical parts was the radiator and radiator support which
I replaced. But, now the car wont start. Is there a reset
switch for the gas pump or something? I don’t think
it’s passing gas to the engine well.

A:
AJ, go
into the trunk and look on the left side. You’ll see
an opening in the covering just behind the wheel well. In
there you’ll find a small black box that has 2 wires
and a red button. Give the button a push. Ford uses a safety
device called an Inertia Fuel Shut off switch (IFS switch).
This switch is designed to trip in and accident, but will
also trip when a vehicle is towed or even in a steep driveway.
A push of a button should have you up and running.
