Eclipse, No Start After Repairs
Q: My car has 183,660 miles now. It had 183,067 when I bought
it. It did great for the first two weeks and then my distributor cap broke.
I replaced the distributor, cap, and rotor. The motor will rotate but
not start. There's no power going to the plugs. My question is, what would
cause the plugs not to spark (or fire)? Could it be the ECM, or something
simple? Thanks, Marie
A: Why
did you replace the distributor if only the distributor cap broke? Was
there a problem with the distributor? As far as the vehicle’s computer,
ECM as it’s called in your application, being the problem , not likely.
Your vehicle ran before the distributor cap broke, but would not after
the distributor, cap and rotor were replaced. That is the area that you
should be looking.
