Oldsmobile Alero, ABS and Traction Warning Lights
Q:
Why are the ABS and Traction
warning lights coming on in my car? I own a ‘99
Oldsmobile Alero.
- Vanessa J.
A:
The warning lights are on
because there is a system problem. Why are both warning lights on? They’re
both on because the anti-lock brake system and the traction control system share
sensors. So, if there is a system problem with a shared component both warning
lights will turn on. The only way to find the cause for the problem is to ask
the vehicle's computer what it is having for a problem. This will require a
computer scan-tool. Diagnosis will require a technician that has training in
these systems.
