BATTERIES NORMALLY PRODUCE EXPLOSIVE GASES WHICH CAN CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY. THEREFORE, DO NOT ALLOW FLAMES, SPARKS OR LIGHTED SUBSTANCES TO COME NEAR THE BATTERY. WHEN CHARGING OR WORKING NEAR A BATTERY, ALWAYS SHIELD YOUR FACE AND PROTECT YOUR EYES. ALWAYS PROVIDE VENTILATION.
WHEN LIFTING A PLASTIC-CASED BATTERY, EXCESSIVE PRESSURE ON THE END WALLS COULD CAUSE ACID TO SPEW THROUGH THE VENT CAPS, RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY. LIFT WITH A BATTERY CARRIER OR WITH YOUR HANDS ON OPPOSITE CORNERS.
NOTE: When battery voltage is removed from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) , all learned values will be cleared and reset to predetermined values. When battery voltage is restored to the PCM, the vehicle may exhibit certain driveability concerns. It will be necessary to drive the vehicle to allow the PCM to relearn values for optimum driveability and performance.
Remove the (A) battery hold down bolt and the (B) battery hold down clamp.
Remove the battery.
INSTALLATION
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE:
Inspect and clean the battery posts and cable clamps with a wire brush before reinstalling the battery. Neutralize any corrosion with a solution of baking soda and water. After installing the cables, apply a small quantity of Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C or XG-1-K or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B to each battery post to prevent corrosion.

The battery cover must be installed so that the notched area clears the wiring harness.
