Oil Pan

Removal

  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Drain the engine oil.
  3. Remove the catalytic convertor.

  

  1. NOTE: Remove the bolts evenly.

Remove the 17 bolts and the oil pan.

Installation

  1. CAUTION: Do not use abrasive grinding discs to remove gasket material; use only manual scrapers. Do not scratch or gouge the aluminum sealing surfaces.

Clean and inspect the mounting faces of both the oil pan and the cylinder block. To remove all traces of previous sealer, use solvent to clean the cylinder block and oil pump. Both surfaces must be flat, clean and dry.

  1. NOTE: Install the oil pan within four minutes after the sealant has been applied.

Apply a 3 mm (0.1 inch) continuous bead of silicone gasket and sealant to the oil pan.

  

  1. Install the oil pan. Tighten the bolts from the middle out as shown.
  2. Install the catalytic convertor.
  3. Install the oil pan drain plug.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Fill the crankcase with clean engine oil.
