SPECIAL TOOLS

REMOVAL

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure.

WARNING:

  • DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR AN OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL RELATED COMPONENT. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY BE IGNITED, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
  • FUEL IN THE FUEL SYSTEM REMAINS UNDER HIGH PRESSURE EVEN WHEN ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING.
  • BEFORE REPAIRING OR DISCONNECTING ANY OF THE FUEL LINES OR FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS, THE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE MUST BE RELIEVED.

NOTE: Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Use Disconnect Tool to disconnect the fuel supply lines from the fuel injection supply manifold.
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
  4. Remove the throttle body.

  

  1. Disconnect the fuel charging wiring from the fuel injectors.

  

  1. Disconnect the vacuum line and wiring from the fuel pressure sensor.

  

  1. Remove the fuel charging wiring.
    • Remove the screws.
    • Position the fuel charging wiring out of the way.
  1. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold.
    • Remove the bolts.
    • Remove the fuel injection supply manifold.

INSTALLATION

  

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure

CAUTI0N: When installing fuel injector supply manifold, lubricate the injector O-rings lightly with clean engine oil.
