WARNING: DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY AN OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL-RELATED COMPONENT. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY BE IGNITED, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE INJURY.
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Relieve the fuel pressure.
Remove the rear seat cushion assembly; refer to Seats.
Disconnect the two fuel delivery module electrical connectors.
Remove the four fuel delivery module access cover screws and remove the fuel delivery module access cover.
Remove the fuel line clip and disconnect the fuel line.
Drain the fuel tank.
Raise and support the vehicle; refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
Disconnect the fuel filler pipe.
Loosen the clamp and disconnect the fuel filler pipe.
Loosen the clamp and disconnect the fuel filler pipe vent hose.
Disconnect the vapor hose from the canister purge line tee.
Remove the fuel tank support straps.
Lower and remove the fuel tank.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven.
Install using new fuel line clips.
Where barbed fittings are used replace the emission hoses.
