Removal

  1. NOTE: A/T vehicle shown; M/T vehicle similar.

Remove the battery tray.

  

  1. Remove the clutch master cylinder cover plate nut.

  

  1. Position the hood latch control handle and cable out of the way.
1 Loosen the nut.
2 Remove the hood latch control handle and cable and position out of the way.

  

  1. Remove the screw and release the instrument panel steering column cover.

  

  1. NOTE: Coupe shown, Sedan similar.

Disconnect the light switch rheostat resistor electrical connector and remove the instrument panel steering column cover.

  

  1. Disconnect the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch electrical connector and the speed control deactivate switch electrical connector.
  2. Remove the steering column tube.

  

  1. Remove the two brake pedal bracket nuts.

  

  1. Remove the self-locking pin.

  

  1. Remove the clevis pin.

  

  1. Remove the four power brake booster nuts.

  

  1. If equipped with M/T, disconnect clutch pedal components.
1 Disconnect Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch electrical connector.
2 Remove clutch pedal push rod.

  

  1. Remove the two brake pedal bracket nuts from the LH side.
  2. Remove the brake pedal and bracket.

Installation

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn its strategy.
