WARNING:

  • A NEW ECS MODULE MUST BE INSTALLED IF THE AIR BAG MODULES HAVE DEPLOYED.
  • THE ECS ORIENTATION IS CRITICAL FOR CORRECT SYSTEM OPERATION. IF A VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH AN SRS SYSTEM HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN A COLLISION IN WHICH THE CENTER TUNNEL AREA HAS BEEN DAMAGED, INSPECT THE MOUNTING AND BRACKET FOR DEFORMATION. IF DAMAGED, A NEW ECS MUST BE INSTALLED WHETHER OR NOT THE AIR BAG MODULES HAVE DEPLOYED. IN ADDITION, MAKE SURE THE AREA OF THE SENSOR MOUNTING IS RESTORED TO ITS ORIGINAL CONDITION.
  • TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE REPAIRING OR REPLACING ANY AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) COMPONENTS. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT ONE MINUTE. BE SURE TO DISCONNECT AUXILIARY BATTERIES AND POWER SUPPLIES (IF EQUIPPED).
  • CARRY A LIVE AIR BAG MODULE WITH THE AIR BAG AND TRIM COVER POINTED AWAY FROM YOUR BODY. THIS WILL REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT.
  • DO NOT SET A LIVE AIR BAG MODULE DOWN WITH THE TRIM COVER FACE DOWN.
  • CARRY A LIVE AIR BAG MODULE WITH THE AIR BAG AND DEPLOYMENT DOOR POINTED AWAY FROM YOUR BODY. THIS WILL REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT.
  • DO NOT SET A LIVE AIR BAG MODULE DOWN WITH THE DEPLOYMENT DOOR FACE DOWN.
  • THE AIR BAG SIMULATORS MUST BE REMOVED AND THE AIR BAG MODULES RECONNECTED WHEN THE SYSTEM IS REACTIVATED TO AVOID NON-DEPLOYMENT IN A COLLISION, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
  • THE ELECTRONIC CRASH SENSOR (ECS) MODULE ORIENTATION IS CRITICAL FOR CORRECT SYSTEM OPERATION. IF A VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH AN AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN A COLLISION IN WHICH THE CENTER CONSOLE AREA HAS BEEN DAMAGED, INSPECT THE MOUNTING AND BRACKET FOR DEFORMATION. IF DAMAGED, THE ECS MODULE SHOULD BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, MAKE SURE THE AREA OF THE ECS MODULE MOUNTING IS RESTORED TO ITS ORIGINAL CONDITION.
  • CLEARING DTC B1231 WILL POTENTIALLY REMOVE ALL RECORDS OF THE CRASH EVENT.
  • THE TIGHTENING TORQUE OF THE AIR BAG ELECTRONIC CRASH SENSOR (ECS) MODULE RETAINING BOLTS IS CRITICAL FOR CORRECT AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) OPERATION. REFER TO AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE FOR CORRECT TORQUE VALUES.
