Normal Operation
The air bag Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) module monitors its connection to the Total Warning System (TWS) module at pin 13. This connection is used to signal a chime if the air bag indicator is inoperative. If the ECS detects a short to battery or ignition on the connection to the TWS, it will store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1891 in memory.

Possible Causes
An air bag tone warning indicator circuit shorted to battery or ignition could be caused by:

  • a short to battery or ignition on circuit 940 (GY).
  • a damaged or inoperative TWS module.
