Disassembly

  1. Secure the front wheel driveshaft and joint in a vise with protective jaw covers.

  

  1. NOTE: The Coupe RH halfshaft for M/T does not have an inboard circlip.

Remove the driveshaft bearing retainer circlip from the inboard joint housing and discard.

  

  1. Remove the two inboard front wheel driveshaft joint boot clamps and discard.

  

  1. Separate the (A) inboard front wheel driveshaft joint boot from the (B) inboard joint housing.

  

  1. Remove the inboard joint housing from the tripod bearing and driveshaft.

  

  1. Remove the tripod bearing snap ring.

  

  1. Mark the tripod bearing to the driveshaft for reference to ensure correct installation.

  

  1. Remove the (A) tripod bearing from the (B) driveshaft.

  

  1. NOTE: Do not remove the tape wrap until after assembly.

Tape the driveshaft splines to avoid damage to the front wheel driveshaft joint boot.

  

  1. Slide the front wheel driveshaft joint boot off of the driveshaft.

  
  

  1. Clean and inspect the tripod bearing and outboard joint housing for cracks, pitting or scoring; replace if necessary.

Assembly

  
  

  1. Lubricate the tripod bearing and the inboard joint housing with Ford High Temperature Constant Velocity Joint Grease E43Z-19590-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESP-M1C207-A.

  

  1. Install the front wheel driveshaft joint boot onto the driveshaft and remove the tape wrap.

  

  1. Install the (A) tripod bearing onto the (B) driveshaft.

  

  1. Install the snap ring.

  

  1. Install the inboard joint housing onto the tripod bearing.

  

  1. Position the (A) inboard front wheel driveshaft joint boot onto the (B) inboard joint housing.

  

  1. Remove any excess air trapped in the front wheel driveshaft joint boot using a cloth covered screwdriver after adjusting the front wheel driveshaft joint boot spacing.

  

  1. Use Boot Clamp Pliers to install two new front wheel driveshaft joint boot clamps.

  

  1. Install a new driveshaft bearing retainer circlip, onto the outboard driveshaft joint.
