SERVICE INFORMATION

When replacing the Electronic Steering Column Lock, there are two possible service parts that may be shipped to the dealer: 48700-9N00B or 48700-1NC0A. These part numbers are interchangeable.

48700-1NC0A is shown in Figure 1. Its shape (physical appearance) is different than the original.

If you receive Electronic Steering Column Lock P/N 48700-1NC0A, the bolts that hold it in place may not line up. You may not be able to start the bolt threads.

If you encounter the above condition, use a hand file to remove a small amount of metal from the edges shown in Figure 1.

^ See photos for "before" and "after" close-ups.

PARTS INFORMATION

Order Electronic Steering Column Lock using the electronic parts catalog (FAST or equivalent).

Close up before metal is removed:

^ A green marker was used to mark the area that is to be filed.

^ Be careful not to damage the plastic guide.

^ Use tape to cover openings and prevent metal shavings from entering the assembly (see Figure 3).

NOTE :

^ Do not use any power tools (grinders, sanders, etc.) to remove the small amount of metal.

^ Only a very small amount of metal removal, with a hand file, is needed.

Close up after metal is removed:

^ Use tape to cover openings and prevent metal shavings from entering the assembly.

^ Remove only a small amount of metal as shown.

^ After filing, if the assemble still will not fit, file a little more and retry.
