SERVICE INFORMATION
It is possible for brake pad wear to cause the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir to decrease to the MIN level, turning "ON" the Low Brake Fluid Warning Light.
If you confirm that the warning light is illuminated, perform the following procedures to inspect the vehicle and determine the proper repair method.
WARRANTY NOTE:
A low fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir due only to brake pad wear not caused by any defect is not warrantable.
INSPECTION
Use a scale to check the thickness of the front brake pads.
^
View the brake pads though the caliper body inspection hole.
1. If the remaining brake pad lining thickness is as shown above.
AND
The brake fluid level in the master cylinder fluid reservoir is at or near the MIN level line,
The drop in the brake fluid level is likely due to brake pad wear not caused by any defect.
2. If the remaining brake pad lining thickness is as shown above.
AND
The brake fluid level in the master cylinder fluid reservoir is at or below the MIN level line,
ACTION: Perform brake system inspections in accordance with the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to determine the cause of the brake fluid level decrease.
3. To determine if the front brake pads should be replaced, refer to the applicable ESM for front brake pad wear limit thickness information.
