INTERMITTENT WIPER OPERATION
This bulletin has been amended to apply to all vehicles with Intermittent Rain Sensing Wipers.
APPLIED VEHICLE: Nissan vehicles with Intermittent Rain Sensing Wipers
SERVICE INFORMATION
Vehicle may be equipped with the Rain-Sensing Auto Wiper system.
With this system:
>
A rain sensor is located on the windshield, if equipped.
>
When the wiper lever is pushed down to the intermittent (INT) position, the wipers will operate when the rain sensor detects rain.
>
May only make a single stroke unless rain is detected directly above the sensor.
>
May also be identified by the word "AUTO ADJ" on the wiper switch (some models).
NOTE:
The wipers may operate unexpectedly when dirt, fingerprints, oil film, or insects are located on or around the sensor, or when exhaust gas or moisture affect the rain sensor.
If a customer states the wipers do not work when the wiper lever is pushed down to the intermittent (INT) position, make sure the customer is familiar with the above information.
^
You can demonstrate the operation of the system by pushing the wiper lever down to the intermittent (INT) position and spraying/sprinkling water over the rain sensor.
NOTE:
If a wiper-operation incident does occur, refer to the applicable Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for further diagnostic assistance.
