REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SENSOR

Description

The refrigerant pressure sensor is installed at the condenser of the air conditioner system. The sensor uses an electrostatic volume pressure transducer to convert refrigerant pressure to voltage. The voltage signal is sent to ECM, and ECM controls cooling fan system.

Diagnosis Procedure

1.CHECK GROUND CONNECTION

  1. Turn A/C switch and blower fan switch OFF.
  2. Stop engine.
  3. Turn ignition switch OFF.
  4. Check ground connection E9. Refer to Ground Inspection in See: Testing and Inspection\Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview\Service Information For Electrical Incident\Circuit Inspection. Is the Inspection result normal?

YES >> GO TO 2.
NO >> Repair or replace ground connection.
2.CHECK REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect refrigerant pressure sensor harness connector.

  

  1. Check the voltage between refrigerant pressure sensor harness connector and ground.

  

Is the Inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 4.
NO >> GO TO 3.
3.DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.

  • Harness connectors E3, F1
  • IPDM E/R harness connectors E18, E201
  • IPDM E/R
  • Harness for open or short between ECM and refrigerant pressure sensor >> Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.

4.CHECK REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
  2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
  3. Check the continuity between refrigerant pressure sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.

  

  1. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power. Is the Inspection result normal?

YES >> GO TO 6.
NO >> GO TO 5.
5.DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.

  • Harness connectors E3, F1
  • IPDM E/R harness connectors E18, E201
  • IPDM E/R
  • Harness for open or short between ECM and refrigerant pressure sensor >> Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.

6.CHECK REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT

  1. Check the continuity between refrigerant pressure sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.

  

  1. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power. Is the Inspection result normal?

YES >> GO TO 8.
NO >> GO TO 7.
7.DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.

  • Harness connectors E3, F1
  • IPDM E/R harness connectors E18, E201
  • IPDM E/R
  • Harness for open or short between ECM and refrigerant pressure sensor >> Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.

8.CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to See: Testing and Inspection\Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview\Service Information For Electrical Incident\Intermittent Incident.
Is the Inspection result normal?
YES >> Replace refrigerant pressure sensor.
NO >> Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
