The driver's power seat slide travel front to back is rough.

ACTION

For all 2010 Altimas and 2009 Altimas built from:

Install the Power Track Service Kit to resolve the issue. Refer to the Service Procedure.

NOTE:
Do not replace the seat bottom or seat lower assembly for this issue, if it should occur.

For 2007 through 2009 Altimas built to:

This bulletin does not apply. Replace the Seat Lower Assembly using standard Nissan Warranty Practices.

IMPORTANT:
The purpose of "ACTIONS" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT:
Follow all cautions, warnings, and notes in the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) when working on or near a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), such as an air bag.

  

1. Write down the radio station presets.

2. Slide the driver's seat fully rearward and remove the front two seat-to-body bolts.

3. Tilt the seat back to the upright position and remove the headrest.

4. Slide the seat mid-travel, raise the seat all the way up, and remove the rear seat-to-body bolts.

5. Disconnect both 12V battery cables, negative cable first, and wait at least 3 minutes before proceeding to step 6.

6. Disconnect the seat harnesses from the body harnesses.

7. Remove the seat from the vehicle.

8. Place the seat, back side down, on a clean covered workbench.

  

9. Remove the seat bottom plastic side shields.

10. Disconnect the power harness and clip from the track motor.

  

11. Remove all eight nuts holding the lower seat track to the seat as shown. The lower rack will not be reused.

  

12. Remove the new track assembly from the shipping package and lay it next to the seat as shown.

  

13. Set the seat assembly onto all eight studs of the new lower track assembly.

  

14. Tighten all eight nuts in sequence as shown.

  

15. Remove the four bolts and the plastic bracket. The plastic bracket will not be reused.

16. Connect the track motor power harness and clip.

17. Reinstall the plastic shields.

18. Reinstall the seat into the vehicle, reconnecting the seat harnesses to the body harnesses while doing so.

IMPORTANT:
Be sure that all Side Air Bag harnesses are routed correctly and that all connectors are firmly seated.

  

19. Install the four seat-to-body bolts in the sequence shown in Figure 7

TORQUE: 40 Nm (3.9 kg-m, 35 ft-lb).

20. Reinstall the headrest.

21. Reconnect the battery cables.

22. Check seat for proper operation.

23. Reprogram the radio presets.

24. Reinitialize power windows and other systems as needed.
