MAXIMA AND ALTIMA SEDAN AND COUPE; CUP HOLDER LID WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE

This bulletin has been amended. The title, APPLIED VEHICLES, CLAIMS INFORMATION, and the SERVICE PROCEDURE have been amended. Discard previous copies of this bulletin.

2009 - 2010 Maxima (A35)
2007 - 2009 Altima Sedan (L32) with M/T ONLY
2008 - 2010 Altima Coupe (CL32)

APPLIED VINS and DATES:

IF YOU CONFIRM:

The cup holder lid (lid) will not open or close.

ACTION:

Reattach the lid hinge.

  

^ For repair procedure, refer to the SERVICE PROCEDURE section of this bulletin.

NOTE
Do not replace the center console cup holder assembly for this incident, if it should occur.

CLAIMS INFORMATION

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE:
^ Repairs are shown performed with the cup holder out of the vehicle.

^ Repairs can be done with the cup holder in the vehicle.

^ Repairs shown are performed on the rear of the lid. Repairs to the front are similar.

^ Maxima cup holder shown; Altima Sedan/Coupe cup holders similar.

^ For Altima Sedan: Applies to M/T equipped models only.

  

1. Open the lid by pushing on its backside (see Figure 1).

  

2. Align the hinge pin (pin) up to the opening at the end of the cup holder arm (arm). See Figure 2 and 3.

  

3. Close the lid (see Figure 4).

^ Push down on the lid enough for it to stay closed by itself.

  

^ Make sure the arm and the pin stay aligned while closing (see Figure 5).

4. Push down on the end of the lid until the pin snaps into the arm (see Figure 5).

  

^ After snapping in place, make sure there is no gap between the pin and lid (see Figure 6).

5. Verify repairs are complete by opening and closing the lid.airs are complete by opening and closing the lid.

CAUTION:
Do not put any items in the cup holder that could keep the lid from properly closing.
