SERVICE PROCEDURE A (seat frame needed)

  

1. Remove two trim screws.

  

2. Remove the two trim hooks from the seat pan.

  

3. Remove two trim screws.

  

4. Using a trim tool with a U-shaped fork (such as Snap-On AI77A or equivalent) remove the trim retainer from the seat frame.

  

5. Using a plastic trim tool remove the two knobs from the seat switch.

  

6. Using a plastic trim tool remove the seat switch from the trim panel.

Note the position of the two harness-to-seat frame clips in Figure A6 for Step 7.

  

7. Use needle-nose pliers to remove the two harness-to-seat frame clips.

  

8. Using a trim tool with a U-shaped fork (such as Snap-On AI77A or equivalent) remove the trim retainer from the seat frame.

  

9. Remove the seat cushion J-clips from the seat pan.

  

10. Remove the J-clips for the side of the seat cushion from the seat pan.

  

11. Remove the nut securing the seat belt buckle to the seat frame assy. Unplug the buckle harness from the seat harness. Discard the buckle and nut.

NOTE:
The nut must not be reused. A new nut will come with the new buckle.

  

12. Using a trim tool with a U-shaped fork (such as Snap-On AI77A or equivalent) remove the trim retainer from the seat frame.

  

13. Using a trim tool with a U-shaped fork (such as Snap-On AI77A or equivalent) remove the trim retainer from the seat frame.

  

14. Remove the upper seat back bolt indicated in Figure A14.

  

15. Loosen but DO NOT REMOVE the lower seat back bolt indicated in Figure A15.

16. Repeat steps 14 and 15 for the other side of the seat.

  

17. Use a felt tip pen or equivalent to mark all the locations where the seat harness clips to the seat pan. Do this to the top and bottom of the seat pan.

  

19. Remove the three screws holding the harness bracket to the seat pan. Remove the harness bracket from the seat pan.

  

20. Unplug both front motors.

  

21. Disconnect the rear motor harness from the seat, and then disconnect the seat harness from the motor.

  

22. Thread the seat harness and seat switch from the seat frame assy.

  

23. Remove the two remaining upper seat back bolts and separate the seat back and cushion from the seat frame.

NOTE:
Check the seat frame assembly to ensure the three brackets shown in Figure A23 are in place.

If any of the brackets (LH Front Seat Bracket Assy., LH Cushion Finisher Bracket, or RH Cushion Finisher Bracket) are missing replace them with the ones from the Parts Information section of this bulletin.

  

24. Remove the front pan clamp bolts and then thread them partway back into the pan.

Wiggle the bolts.

Does it feel like the attached "captive" nut is loose to the pan?

^ YES: The seat pan must be replaced as part of the repair.

^ NO: Remove the bolts and continue to step 25.

  

25. Replace the rear C-Clips with the ones from the Parts Information section of this bulletin.

  

26. Discard the original plastic bushings and metal clamps.

  

27. Install the two new bushings (two lower, two upper) into the new Clamps from the Parts Information section of this bulletin.

NOTE:
The lower bushing is shown here. The upper bushing has three mounting tabs.

IMPORTANT:
^ The lower new bushings have a notch molded into the side. (see circle)

^ The lower new bushings have a long and a short side. (see arrows)

^ The lower bushings MUST be installed as show in the picture below.

  

^ The new upper bushings have clips that hold them into the seat pan.

^ The upper bushings MUST be installed with clip tabs as show below.

  

^ Make sure the upper bushings are snapped firmly in place.

  

  

28. Install both front clamps with bolts as shown in Figure A28.

TORQUE: 10 Nm (1 Kg-m, 88.5 in-lb)

  

29. Reassemble the seat in reverse order of removal.

NOTES:
^ Ensure the seat harness clips and routing are in the same place as before disassembly.

^ Thread a tie wrap from the kit through the holes in the seat pan. Tie wrap all the wires together just below the blue connector as shown in Figure A29.

^ Seat back to seat frame bolt TORQUE: 60 Nm (6.1 Kg-m, 44.2 ft-lb)

^ Install a new belt buckle to seat frame with the new nut that comes with the buckle.

TORQUE: 49 Nm (5 Kg-m, 36 ft-lb)

  

^ During cushion installation add U-clips to the cushion J-clips as shown in Figures A30a & A30b.

30. Reinstall the seat into the vehicle, reconnecting the seat harnesses to the body harnesses while doing so.

31. Install the four seat-to-body bolts and torque in the sequence shown below.

  

TORQUE: 49 Nm (5 Kg-m, 36 ft-lb).

29. Reinstall the headrest.

30. Reconnect the battery cables.

31. Check seat for proper operation.

32. Because the battery was disconnected; some systems will need to be reset.
