REMOVAL

NOTE:

  • Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C component or damage to the suction accumulator.
  • If the A/C evaporator core leak is suspected, the A/C evaporator core must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle.
  • The A/C evaporator core is not serviced separately from the A/C evaporator housing. If the A/C evaporator core needs to be serviced, install a new A/C evaporator housing as an assembly.
  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.

  

  1. Disconnect the A/C vacuum line.

CAUTION: Plug all ports to prevent contamination from dirt and moisture.

  1. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir.

  

  1. Disconnect the rear condenser to evaporator line spring lock coupling.

CAUTION: Plug all ports to prevent contamination from dirt or moisture.

  

  1. Remove the suction line support clip retaining nuts.

  

  1. Disconnect the suction line spring lock coupling.

CAUTION: Plug all ports to prevent contamination from dirt or moisture.

  1. Remove the RH windshield defroster nozzle connector.
    • Remove the push pin.
    • Remove the screw and the RH windshield defroster nozzle connector.

  

  1. Loosen the A/C evaporator outlet duct clamp bolt.

  

  1. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.

  

  1. Disconnect the vacuum control motor vacuum connector.

  

  1. Detach the vacuum lines from the A/C evaporator housing retainer.

  

  1. Remove the nuts and the A/C evaporator housing.

INSTALLATION

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install new O-rings lubricated in PAG oil.
