REAR SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY
Removal and Installation
Removal
CAUTION:
Before removing the rear suspension assembly, disconnect the ABS wheel sensor from the assembly.
Failure to do so may result in damage to the sensor wires and the sensor becoming inoperative.
- Remove the center exhaust tube with muffler(s). Refer to See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust\Exhaust System\Service and Repair\Removal and Installation (QR25DE) or See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust\Exhaust System\Service and Repair\Removal and Installation (VQ35DE).
- Remove brake caliper assembly and reposition aside, without disconnecting the hydraulic hose, using power tools. Refer to See: Brakes and Traction Control\Disc Brake System\Brake Caliper\Service and Repair\Rear Disc Brake\Exploded View.
- Leave the brake hydraulic hose connected to the brake caliper.
- Do not depress the brake pedal, or the caliper piston will pop out.
- Do not pull or twist the brake hydraulic hose.
- Remove brake rotor. Refer to See: Brakes and Traction Control\Disc Brake System\Brake Caliper\Service and Repair\Rear Disc Brake\Exploded View.
- Disconnect parking brake cable from knuckle. Refer to See: Brakes and Traction Control\Parking Brake System\Parking Brake Control\Service and Repair\Pedal Type\Exploded View (pedal type), See: Brakes and Traction Control\Parking Brake System\Parking Brake Control\Service and Repair\Lever Type\Exploded View (lever type).
- Remove rear wheel sensors. Refer to See: Brakes and Traction Control\Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems\Wheel Speed Sensor\Service and Repair\ABS\Wheel Sensors (ABS), See: Brakes and Traction Control\Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems\Wheel Speed Sensor\Service and Repair\TCS/ABS (TCS/ABS), See: Brakes and Traction Control\Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems\Wheel Speed Sensor\Service and Repair\VDC/TCS/ABS\Wheel Sensors (VDC/TCS/ABS).
- Remove lower shock absorber nuts using power tools.
- Remove lower control arm link adjusting bolt and arm. Refer to See: Control Arm\Service and Repair\Rear Lower Link And Coil Spring.
- Remove upper ball joint nut and cotter pin. Refer to See: Exploded View.
- Disconnect radius rod member side. Refer to See: Radius Arm\Service and Repair.
- Disconnect lower link adjusting bolt. Refer to See: Control Arm\Service and Repair\Front Lower Link.
- Remove knuckle. Refer to See: Exploded View.
- Remove stabilizer bar. Refer to See: Stabilizer Bar\Service and Repair\Rear Stabilizer.
- Disconnect lower link adjusting bolt. Refer to See: Control Arm\Service and Repair\Front Lower Link.
- Disconnect member harness.
- Support the rear suspension assembly using a suitable jack.
- Remove the suspension member nuts and member stay bolts using power tools.
- Lower the rear suspension assembly.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
