Chevy Astro, Power Window Problems
Q: I have an '87 Chevy
Astro with power windows. The driver's side works fine but the passenger
side is down and will not go up. I checked the power at the motor and
have power when an attempt is made to go up. I have power when an attempt
is made to go down. The plug and the motor both have clean contacts. I
tried another motor and got the same results, it will go down but not
up even though I have power....Ray
A: The
electric motor for power windows is a reversible motor. A power window
switch merely changes the direction (flip flops) the electrical current
flow to the electric motor. If your power window works in one direction,
that proves that the electrical connections from the switch to the electric
motor are sound and in good condition. The problem is not with the electric
motor, it's with the switch.
