Astro, Door Lock Relay
Q: I own an 87 Chevy Astro V6. It had a problem with power door
locks. I am sure I need to replace a door lock relay but I don't know
where it is located. I checked the fuse box but it is not there. I guess
its somewhere in the engine area or inside the door. Can you tell me?...Kevin
A: The
ALLDATA Information System shows the door lock relay to be mounted under
the right side of the instrument panel. Also note that the door lock module
(yes, some sort of computer had to be mixed into your door locks) is located
adjacent to the door lock relay. You should also note that there are 2
circuit protections for the power door locks. One is the Accessory Circuit
Breaker at the fuse panel and the other is a fusible link which is located
in the engine compartment. Both of these components must be good before
there is any chance of getting the power door locks to operate.
