Chevy Silverado, ABS Light and Buzzing Noise
Q: I was driving home when the ABS light came on. I heard a humming,
vibrating noise coming from the underside of the truck. I parked, turned
off the ignition and the sound continued. The only way to stop it was
to disconnect the battery cable. I reconnected the cable the following
morning and the sound resumed. This seemed to be under the truck about
midway. Any ideas of what could cause this?
A: I
think you have 2 different problems. The ABS unit’s pump is located under
the hood. Midway under your vehicle is the gas tank which has an electric
fuel pump. The fuel pump is powered by a relay that is controlled by the
vehicle’s computer. You need more than this column to deal with your problem.
Get your vehicle to a qualified technician for diagnosis.
