Chevy Suburban, No Power Steering
Q:
I was in 4x4 Hi, doing
donuts in the snow covered parking lot and it feels like my power steering
went out. It is extremely difficult to turn the steering wheel. Any idea
what could be wrong?
A:
I can see it now, the
urban assault vehicle is sidewards at about 20 MPH. Your right foot is
all the way to the floor. The 5.7 liter engine is just screaming with
the steering turned full to the lock position to keep the back end of
the Suburban from passing the front end. The only problem is you couldn't
hear the power steering pump screaming in pain as you yahooed around the
parking lot. If you're lucky the pressure control valve is stuck in the
full pressure dump position. If not, you're replacing or rebuilding the
Power steering pump. Hope you were having fun!
